As a retired person, retired from work, but not retired from active involvement in community interests, I volunteered to help build the Friends of Cook Memorial Library in La Grande, Oregon.
I learned a great deal about nonprofit law, about recording information for government agencies, and about working with volunteers. I also learned about some of the needs of a community, and what the people of the community do to achieve those needs.
